ADRRN Annual Meeting 2024: Shaping Asia’s Resilience

The bustling city of Bangkok, Thailand, set the stage for the highly anticipated Asian Disaster Reduction and Response Network (ADRRN) Annual General Meeting, held today, December 9, 2024. Among the notable attendees were Chie Galvez and Mayfourth Luneta, representing the Center for Disaster Preparedness Foundation (CDP) with pride and purpose.

 

A key announcement during the meeting confirmed that CDP, represented by Ms. Mayfourth Luneta, will continue as an Executive Committee member for the 2025–2027 term, reinforcing its leadership role in disaster preparedness and resilience. (Read about the new Executive Committee Member in the link below.)





The meeting showcased a learning exchange event in Baguio City, reported by Ms. Ikue Uchida of ADRRN's Tokyo Innovation Hub, which highlighted the collaborative efforts between CDP and YEU partner innovators.



 

ADRRN also celebrated the Innovators Awardees recognized during the Local Leaders Award at the recent Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (APMCDRR). This recognition was presented in a report by ADRRN's General Secretary, Ms. Meghna Chawla, honoring their contributions to advancing resilience.




As the leader of the Community-Based Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (CBDRRM) Hub, CDP shared valuable experiences and best practices, fostering knowledge exchange across Asia. The sharing of these experiences was highlighted during the Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (APMCDRR), showcasing CDP's commitment to empowering communities and promoting resilience.

 

Reflecting its forward-looking vision, ADRRN emphasized its commitment to transforming Asia into the most resilient region, moving away from vulnerability. Alongside the program, Ms. Chie Galvez shared her insights and feedback on the proposal for ADRRN Partners, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and innovation in achieving the network's goals.




This event highlighted the importance of regional collaboration and CDP’s pivotal role in building disaster resilience.
