The recent Annual General Meeting of the Asian Disaster Reduction and Response Network (ADRRN) took place in Bangkok, Thailand, last December 9, 2024, bringing together voices from across the Asia-Pacific region. This gathering is essential for ADRRN, which has made it its mission to enhance cooperation and share vital information among 38 national NGOs spanning 20 countries. Their focus is on disaster risk reduction and empowering communities to effectively face the challenges that come with disasters.
One of the key moments of the event was the election of the new Executive Committee officers for the 2025–2027 term. The newly elected officers are:
Chairperson: Mr. Takeshi Komino
Vice President: Ms. Mayfourth Luneta
Secretary General: Ms. Anastasia Maylinda Titilestari
Treasurer: Mr. Hanan Hussain
Execom Members: Ms. Sameera Noori, Mr. Khadga Sen Oli, and Mr. Sudhanshu Singh
In the speech of newly elected Vice President, Ms. Luneta, expressed gratitude and determination in her new role. “It is an honor to be part of the Executive Committee and to take on the new role as VP. I embrace the challenge of continuing to serve our network, ADRRN,” she said. She also highlighted CDP’s enduring partnership with ADRRN, adding, “CDP has been with ADRRN since 2006, and I have been an ExCo member since 2017.”
The meeting reinforced ADRRN’s dedication to building disaster resilience through teamwork and the sharing of knowledge among its diverse members. With this new leadership, ADRRN is poised to push forward its vision of transforming Asia from being one of the world's most vulnerable regions into one that exemplifies resilience.
