Sparking Global Change through Local Solutions: Regional Humanitarian Partnership Week (RHPW) – Asia Pacific 2024

The Regional Humanitarian Partnership Week (RHPW) – Asia Pacific 2024, held from December 10 to 12 in Bangkok, Thailand, brought together humanitarian professionals to exchange ideas, share best practices, and foster collaborations.

Organized by the ICVA, ADRRN, CWSA, and UNOCHA, this year’s theme, "Sparking Global Change through Local Solutions in Humanitarian Action," emphasized accountability, quality funding, and local leadership as key drivers of effective humanitarian action in the Asia-Pacific region. Building on the 2023 event’s success, RHPW 2024 focused on operationalizing the Grand Bargain’s principles, including equitable partnerships, climate change responses, capacity strengthening, risk management, innovative financing, and fostering local leadership. (read here for more info ADRRN-rhpw2024)

Showcasing practical and innovative solutions tailored to local contexts are some highlight of the event. The CDP team and innovators presented projects such as emergency Nutri-Bars and indigenous food reserve policies (by Geraldine Dao-ay and Ms. Chie Galvez), accessible mobility solutions like the A-TraMS and rattan wheelchairs (presented by John Lester Pusing). The women-managed mangrove conservation initiatives and forest guarding modules of Pinnovation Academy were led by ATIH and the CBDRRMHUB of ADRRN, with support from partners such as ELRHA and ADRRN.

Through table discussions and presentations participants explored ways to advance humanitarian action by bridging global strategies with local implementation. The CDP team’s active participation underscored their commitment to empowering communities and fostering inclusive solutions.

As RHPW 2024 continues, the focus shifts from discussion to action, aiming to build resilient communities, foster fair partnerships, and implement lasting solutions. By working together, global and local actors are driving change—one solution at a time.
